Abstract
This study was conducted to identify the factors related to vicarious trauma of art therapists. Participants for this study were 180 individuals, some of whom were under training to be an art therapist and the rest of whom were certified art therapists. For data collection questionnaires were distributed and collected as soon as they are filled out. This process of data collection was conducted 5 times during 150 days. The instruments included a questionnaire surveying about general traits of the participants, an accident impact scale, a stress-coping skills scale, a social support scale, and a self-efficacy scale. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and standard deviation) were produced. Correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the level of art therapists' vicarious trauma was low-middle while the levels of art therapists' stress-coping skills, social support, and self-efficacy were all above middle. Second, significant correlation was found between vicarious trauma, stress-coping skills, and self-efficacy. Third, hopeful thinking in the stress-coping skills domain was positively correlated with vicarious trauma while confidence in the self-efficacy domain and social support in the stress-coping skills domain were negatively correlated with vicarious trauma.
